Privacy Policy
Effective date: 23 September 2026
PurePlayer is a media player. You bring your own playlist, and we don't supply or host any channels, movies, series, or streaming content. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
In summary
- We don't run ads, and we don't use third-party analytics or tracking tools.
- We measure how the app itself is working, using anonymous usage data that isn't linked to you or your account. You can turn it off.
- We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for marketing.
- We never receive or store your card, bank, or wallet details.
- We collect only what we need to run the app, sync your setup between your devices, and respond when you contact us.
What we collect, and why
Your device. When you set up the app, we create a device identifier so we can recognize your device and keep your access working. We also record the basic technical details any app needs to run and support properly: device type and model, operating system, app version, and approximate region.
Your playlist (only if you use sync). If you add a playlist or use Manage to sync across devices, we store the playlist address and any login details you enter for it. This lets your playlist appear on your other devices. We don't store the content itself, only the details needed to reach it. If you don't use sync, we don't collect any of this.
Your progress and favorites (only if you use sync). We sync where you left off and what you've favorited, so you can start on one device and continue on another. This stays between your own devices. We don't build a profile of what you watch, and we don't use it for advertising.
Payments (only if you make a purchase). If you buy something, we keep a record of the transaction: amount, date, and status, along with the email address you provide for gift purchases so we can send the code. The payment itself is processed by our payment provider. Your card, bank, and wallet details never reach us.
Support messages. If you email us, we keep your message, your email address, and any attachments, so we can respond and keep track of the conversation.
Anonymous usage data
To know whether the app actually works for people — whether it opens, whether a playlist loads, whether anything plays — we record a small number of events from the app itself. This is our own measurement, kept on our own servers. No advertising or analytics company is involved, and none of it is used to target you.
It isn't linked to you. These events are tagged with a random identifier generated on your device. It isn't your account, your email, your device identifier, or any hardware address, and it can't be connected back to them. Deleting it removes the whole record, because there is nothing else tying those events to you.
What the events say. That the app was opened for the first time, that it was opened or closed again, that a playlist was added or arrived and whether your provider accepted it, that something played for the first time, and a short code when playback fails. Each one carries your platform (for example Android TV), the app version, and the country.
What they never contain. Not your playlist address, its name, or its login details. Not the names of channels, films, or series. Not what you watched or for how long. When playback fails we store a short code for the kind of failure, never the underlying error text, because that text can contain the address of the stream.
Country. The country is worked out on our servers from the connection the app arrives on, using a local country database — your address isn't sent to another company for this, and it isn't stored alongside the events. It tells us a country, never a location.
Turning it off. Open Settings and switch off usage data. Nothing is recorded or sent from then on, and anything still waiting to be sent is discarded.
How long we keep it. The individual events are deleted after 90 days. What remains is a count per device — first seen, last seen, whether a playlist worked, whether something played — with no event history attached.
What we don't collect
- No advertising IDs, and no ads.
- No third-party analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting tools.
- No card or bank information.
- We don't access your microphone, camera, contacts, photos, or location.
Services we rely on
A few outside services help us run PurePlayer. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job, and none of them may use your information for their own purposes.
- NOWPayments processes purchases.
- Resend delivers the emails we send you, such as gift codes and replies to support.
- TMDB provides poster art and descriptions for the titles in your playlist. We send it only what it needs to look those up, never anything that identifies you.
- ipapi.co tells the app which country your connection is in when it first registers. We keep that country with your device record, so we know which countries the app is used in. It sees the address your device connects from, and nothing else. This is separate from the country used for usage data above, which we work out ourselves without involving anyone else.
- A cloud host stores our data securely.
If you play a trailer or other embedded clip, it may load from an outside video service, which will see the usual technical details of the request. This happens only when you press play.
How we protect your information
Connections are encrypted, storage is secured, and sensitive information is kept in hashed form rather than in plain text. Access to stored data is limited to a small number of people.
How long we keep it
We keep information for as long as the purpose we collected it for still applies. Your device setup and synced data remain while you use the app. We keep purchase records longer, because accounting and tax rules require it. Support messages are kept while they're useful for helping you. If you delete your data (see below), your device setup and synced information are removed with it.
Your choices and deleting your data
- You can remove individual playlists and synced items inside the app at any time.
- To delete everything, open Settings, tap Clear Data, then choose “Delete all my data.” You can also use the Delete my data page. A few records we're legally required to keep, such as purchase history, remain in a form that no longer identifies you.
- To ask what we hold about you, or to correct something, email support@pureplayer.app.
Children
PurePlayer isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the effective date at the top of the page.
